life does not always turn out the way we thought it would, the way we hoped it to. i’m happy i got to spend the time i did with you, but i guess we were not meant to be together. i miss you dearly, macbook pro <3
my lovely friend, aka my friend the tomato soup-lover, bought what she thought was a package of tomato soup. after several investigations using mostly, actually only, our sense of smell, it turned out to be something completely different, not smelling any good AT ALL. so there sat my friend, with her beloved puke look-alike “tomato soup” and i watched her happiness slowly turn into horror. conclusion? i’m happy i’m a pasta-lover.
i know my friend learnt to not trust the pictures of the package. therefore, i (mostly my friend) advice you to not buy a what-you-think-is-tomatosoup-because-there’s-tomatoes-on-the-package. bring a goddamn dictionary or something!
yes, that’s what it has been! sunny and hot like a barcelonian(?!) day of early spring.
this morning we got up early to get all the permissions we need to live and work in spain. first we had to go to the police station to get a número de N.I.E. (Número de Identificación de Extranjero), which is a kind of identification card for foreigners. first we had to fill out a form with all personal information which we then stand in line to show to one of the officers. then i was issued a form to show at the bank where i will pay approx. 10€. then we had to run back to the station with the receipt to show that i had paid in order to finally get the N.I.E. card. MAN, spain got some to work on here. way too long process! Only the process of the N.I.E. card took approx. 3 hours (including 1 hr wait outside the station before opening-time to be among the first in the queue). effective time(doing something besides from standing in line)=approximately 30-45 mins. and for heaven’s sake, don’t forget to get a copy of your passport before you go to the station.
after the police station we had to go to the “Ministerio de Trabajo e Immigración” to get the permission to work. before you go here, take another copy of your passport and also one of your N.I.E. card! also here you will have to fill out a form with some personal details, and then yet again stand in line to get approved. FINITO!
i’m happy this procedure is over for this time (although i’ll probably have to do it all over again when i change my adress..). to make us feel better, we went straight to starbucks and got some well deserved coffee. I had a frappuchino caramel, the best in the wooooooorld. one of the great things of barcelona is that there’s a starbucks almost wherever you look! at least when on the more popular streets.
ANOTHER great thing about barcelona, or spain in general, is of course the siesta! after some feel-good shopping i had a siesta with the sun shining on me through the window. and wow, i feel like a new person, kind of.. !
oh well, enough for today! tomorrow is the get-a-bank-account-day! hoping this procedure will be a bit simpler.
time for a walk along the beach, i’d say!
